Squier Strat Guitar with USB & iOS Connectivity

Squier Strat with USBWe’re sure it won’t be long before guitars with USB connectors and on-board ADACs (Analog to Digital Audio Converter) will be the norm. But that day isn’t here just yet. There are a handful of such guitars out there. But here’s a real surprise, Fender is selling one from their Squier brand and it’s under $200 and it’s available on the Apple website. Perhaps it’s available in your local Apple store, too. We don’t know.

So, what is it? It’s an Asian-sourced Squier Strat that is pretty much your typical low-cost Squier product but it’s got a built in ADAC that converts the output of the pickups to a digital source for plugging directly into your computer, iPad, iPod Touch, iPhone or other such Apple/iOS device.

OK, it’s not a great Strat or anything. How can it be for under $200? But what it is is a decent starter guitar for folks who want to get some sounds down but feel more comfortable using a mouse than using a mic with an amplifier. Also, what it is is a perfect guitar to use with online lesson applications that let you play along. Can you imagine what it would have been like in the ’60s if we could have had something like this to doodle around with?

You don’t buy a Squier Strat with USB Input from your music store, or from Musician’s Friend or even Fender for that matter. You buy this special model directly from Apple. Huh? Yeah, that’s right. It’s $199.95 and even has free shipping. Here’s the linky:
